Helgi Anton Eiríksson

Executive Vice President Europe

Mr. Eiríksson was appointed to the Glitnir Executive Board in February 2007. He joined Glitnir in 2004 as Global Seafood Director with responsibility for the overall management of Glitnir's international seafood activities. In January 2007 he took on the role as Executive Vice President for Investment Banking. Prior to joining Glitnir, Mr. Eiríksson worked with Coldwater Seafood (UK) Ltd as Director within the executive management team from 1995-2004.

Mr. Eiríksson holds a Cand. Oecon degree in Business Administration from the University of Iceland.

Steinunn Kristín Þórðardóttir (on maternity leave)

Managing Director of Glitnir UK Branch

Steinunn has over 12 years experience in the financial sector, of which 8 years have been spent working with Glitnir. She became Managing Director of Glitnir UK and South Europe in November 2005. Under her leadership, business at the Glitnir office in London has experienced a period of significant growth.

Before her London appointment, Steinunn headed up Glitnir's (then Islandsbanki) International Corporate Credit department in Iceland, where she led transactions with customers in Europe and North America. Steinunn sits on the Executive Committee of the British Icelandic Chamber of Commerce and is a board member of ICEAID, the Icelandic Development and Humanitarian Organisation.

Steinunn has a BA in International Business and Politics from University of South Carolina and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona.

Simon Murphy

Head of Corporate Finance

Simon Murphy joined Glitnir in June 2008 as Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance. He has over 15 years experience of investment banking and has worked on numerous cross border M&A transactions.

Simon worked at HSBC for 14 years as Managing Director and Co-Head of the Mergers & Acquisitions Team and Head of Industrial & Business Services, undertaking the origination and execution of a broad range of M&A and ECM transactions including IPO's and secondaries for both corporate clients and financial sponsors. 

Subsequently, Simon was Managing Director and Head of Business Services for CIBC.  Simon is an Economics graduate and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand.

Jonathan Byrne

Head of Dept Capital Markets

Jonathan joined Glitnir Bank London as a Director in Business Management and was appointed Head of Debt Capital Markets in May 2008. 

An Irish national, Jonathan has over 20 years experience in the banking industry having begun his career in 1987, with Allied Irish Banks in Ireland. In 1998, Jonathan transferred to London, where he gained extensive experience in Loan Syndications. As a Senior Team Leader, Jonathan was responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of over 70 client relationships in a wide variety of sectors including retail, food, media, leisure, support services and healthcare. 

Jonathan holds a BFS degree from University College Dublin.

Adrian Berendt

Head of Finance and Operations

Adrian joined Glitnir UK as Head of Finance and Operations in June 2007. He has extensive experience within his profession and has held several senior finance and operations roles in investment banking, both in the UK and abroad. Most recently, Adrian managed his own consultancy where he advised financial institutions.

Adrian has a BSc in Economics from the University of Wales and is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, where he is a member of both the Financial Services Network Panel and the Research Committee.
